With a generous support of the IBC (International Blue crescent), arthereistanbul will organize and an empowerment program for emerging artists and art professionals.
The series of workshops and art talks will be organised with several art professionals including art managers, academics, curators, thinkers, and art critics, the series of talks, workshops will be during December 2016.
Aim of the workshops and talks is to bring emerging Syrian and Turkish artists together to discuss the challenges and ways to deal with the art scene and system in Turkey, inform them regarding their rights and exchange experiences and knowledge, Also provide some practical and hand on workshops on art related topics and subjects.

Bir mücellit: Book binding workshop

Bir mücellit is a book binding workshop where participants learn and apply the basic skills for handmade books that can then be applied for their own artistic work.
The group will study two main binding techniques: cross-stitching and Japanese four-hole binding. Basic information about binding and materials will also be provided.
You do not need to have any prior experience to attend the workshop.

Independent curator and programs manager at Gallery Zilberman Naz Cuguo?lu and art manager Saliha Yavuz will share the artist residency programs from all over the world with the participants. Naz Cuguo?lu will share her experiences while she was managing the Mau Mau artist residency program. They will talk about how to apply, related documents and tips about the applications.

Introduction to Photobooks / Possibilities of the medium.
A workshop by Volkan K?z?ltunc (photographer, academic, member of FUAM and co-founder of TOZ), will be for image-based artists and photographers to discover the possibilities of photobooks.
In the first part of the workshop: participants will be tought about the history of photobooks, editing, sequencing, storytelling and structuring a photobook. But also the students will also learn the importance of the choice of materials, types of paper, binding, pagination, cover and on other important aspects like the diffusion and distribution possibilities and strategies of self publish photobooks.
In the second part of the workshop: we'll examine the sample photobooks created before during FUAM workshops and will work on our own photobooks.
So PLEASE bring 20-50 printed photos or collected images from magazines, newspapers to practice how to create a photo book.
For : photographers, image-based artists, print-makers, graphic designers and anyone who wish to discover the universe of photobooks.

Project Office (GAPO) presents the photography in Turkey and opens a discussion about the photography production in Turkey in the last quarter of this century and ask questions as follows: how the expanding of the communication channels effects the photography production as it effects the other art fields, where the photography stands in the general art production in Turkey.

GAPO:Geni? Aç? Project Office (GAPO) was founded at the beginning of 2007, based on the experience and expertise of Geni? Aç? Photography Magazine, which was published between 1997-2006. GAPO is an organizational and curatorial team working in coordination with both national and international art institutions to organize exhibitions, workshops and educational programmes and publish books, as well as providing advice for photographers, coordinating traveling exhibitions and parallel events, and giving advanced level lectures in the field of photography.
